Wayne (left) - one of the villages 'live' scarecrows taking a snooze

Scarecrow Festival

B & B from £35 per human
(and straw mattress in barn available for scarecrows at very reasonable cost)

30th April, 1st, 2nd 3rd May
2010

From Straw ones to live ones, baby ones to giant hay bale ones often very humorous ones not forgetting political ones all Wighton's Scarecrows are a joy to behold!  All as individual as the villagers who make, or in some cases 'are', them!

Best seen over the
May Bank Holiday.

'Live' Scarecrows only seen over bank holiday weekend.

Children's competition on Sunday 2nd of May on the common (You bring the child - we provide the rest!)

Accommodation at Shrublands includes delightful rooms, helpful hosts and a 'breakfast banquet' although,
not served by Graham in his Scarecrow outfit. (see right)

Scarecrows start arriving the week before bank holiday , however their very unreliable transport (and the weather) often means they don't all get here till the Friday of bank holiday.

Many Scarecrows find temporary employment in the village and stay for the following week
